Container Case Study

Lion Containers supplied and converted a new 40ft high cube container into a practical 40ft office container for a client working in welding and steel fabrication.

The client needed additional office space at a secure site, so the project did not require anti-vandal features. Instead, the team focused on creating a comfortable, insulated workspace with natural light, electrical points and straightforward access.

The client also planned to stack another unit above the office in the future, so we supplied twist locks to help secure the containers together.

The 40ft Office Container Build

The team started with a new 40ft high cube container and converted it into a functional office space.

The unit sits within a secure location, so the windows did not need shutters or additional security features. Four tilt-and-turn windows provide natural light and ventilation into the office.

The team installed a personnel door alongside the windows, creating straightforward access into the office.

Inside, Lion fitted white MFC lining with insulation behind it to create a cleaner and more comfortable working environment.

The electrical installation includes four lights and seven double sockets, giving the client practical power for everyday office equipment.

Specifications

Custom Electrical Installation

The project included one small detail that differed from Lion’s standard approach.

Lion’s conversions team normally position the fuse board at a higher level, keeping it accessible while placing it safely out of the way. For this shipping container office, the client specifically requested the fuse board underneath one of the windows at a lower level.

The team followed the client’s requirements and installed the fuse board in the requested position.

This highlights how a bespoke office container can accommodate individual requirements rather than forcing the client to work around a standard layout.

Exterior Finish

The container already featured a RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey finish, so the client did not require a full external repaint.

Instead, the team touched up the existing paintwork around the new steelwork on the window and door frames. This kept the exterior looking consistent without adding unnecessary work to the project.

Lion also supplied twist locks so the client could secure another container above the office.

Delivery and Build Time

The team completed the 40ft office container in just three weeks.

The finished unit provides the client with additional office space while making efficient use of the available site and allowing for future container stacking.

The Result

The finished 40ft shipping container office provides a practical additional workspace with insulation, internal lining, natural light, ventilation and electrical power.

The client now has a dedicated office space that fits their site requirements and future plans.
