The client needed a dedicated laundry room container that could accommodate a large number of washing and drying machines while providing everything needed for day-to-day laundry operations.

The team designed the shipping container laundry room around the client’s requirements, making full use of the available 320 sq ft footprint.

Specifications

32ft x 10ft Commercial Laundry Container

The team built a 32ft x 10ft container from scratch and then converted it into the bespoke laundry facility.

The layout separates the washing and drying areas to make the room easier to use.

The team positioned five tumble dryers on each side of one personnel door and installed an extraction fan for each side to support ventilation around the dryers.

The 10 washing machines sit along the opposite side of the container, alongside a sink for hand washing.

This layout creates a practical commercial laundry room while keeping the different areas organised.

Custom Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer Bays

The client wanted each machine to have its own dedicated space.

The team used kitchen worktops and kitchen cupboard side panels to create individual bays for the washing machines and tumble dryers.

This approach gives the container laundry room a clean, organised appearance while helping keep each machine securely positioned within its designated area.

Lion also installed shelving for storage, giving the client convenient storage without taking up unnecessary floor space.

Plumbing for the Shipping Container Laundry

A large-scale laundry facility needs reliable water and waste connections.

The team installed fresh water and waste connections for all 10 washing machines, along with the plumbing for the sink.

The result gives the client a fully functional shipping container laundry that supports multiple washing machines within one dedicated space.

Electrical Installation for 20 Laundry Machines

The electrical installation needed to support 10 washing machines and 10 tumble dryers.

The team installed an electrical connection for every washing machine and tumble dryer, alongside additional sockets for equipment such as irons and other laundry appliances.

Lion also installed lighting throughout the laundry container, creating a well-lit working environment.

Tumble Dryer Extraction and Ventilation

Tumble dryers generate heat and require suitable ventilation, so extraction formed an important part of the design.

The team divided the 10 tumble dryers into two groups of five and then installed one extraction fan for each group, giving both sides of the laundry room dedicated extraction.

This setup supports airflow around the tumble dryers and helps create a more suitable working environment inside the commercial laundry container.

Insulated and Fire-Rated Laundry Container

The client wanted the shipping container laundry room to provide additional fire resistance, so the team selected Magply boards with an A1 fire rating for the internal lining.

The team insulated the container before installing the Magply lining and finished the floor with standard vinyl flooring, providing a practical surface for a busy laundry facility.

Windows and Personnel Doors

The team installed two windows to provide natural light within the container laundry room.

Two personnel doors provide convenient access into the facility, while the internal layout allows users to move between the washing, drying and storage areas.
