Norfolk

Container Case Study

A local organisation in Norfolk required a bespoke classroom container to expand the facilities at their youth centre. The new space needed to provide an additional learning and activity area for young people while supporting accessibility for wheelchair users.

Therefore, the project required:

  • A spacious classroom environment
  • Easy wheelchair access
  • Plenty of natural light
  • Safe, practical internal features
  • A design that blended with the youth centre surroundings

How Did Lion Containers Provide the Solution?

Lion Containers designed the classroom using two 20ft flat pack containers, linked together to create one larger 20ft x 16ft classroom container.

To maximise internal space, Lion removed one side from each container and joined them into a single open-plan unit.

Specifications

  • Five large panel windows along one side
  • Additional tilt-and-turn windows for ventilation
  • Patio doors for improved access and natural light
  • Ply-lined walls
  • Basic electrics including 4 anti-corrosive lights and 8 twin sockets

To improve safety, Lion also recommended:

  • 9mm slip-resistant flooring
  • A portable folding wheelchair ramp for flexible accessibility

Finally, external cladding gave the unit a more natural appearance, helping it blend into the youth centre grounds.
