A charity cycle challenge hosted by Lion Containers at this year’s Royal Welsh Show has raised £1,000 for The DPJ Foundation, a crucial mental health charity which supports wellbeing in Wales’ rural communities.
Team members of both Lion Containers and the DPJ teamed up at the Royal Welsh Show to cycle at a special converted container stand, with the challenge raising funds while helping to highlight the importance of mental health across the agricultural industry.
The DPJ Foundation is a Welsh mental health charity supporting farmers and those living in rural communities. Through its 24 hour contact service, counselling and training programmes, the charity works to break down the stigma surrounding poor mental health and ensure that people can access support when they need it.
The £1,000 donation will contribute towards the Foundation’s work providing vital support to farmers and others within the agricultural sector across Wales.
Howard Adair of Lion Containers Ltd said, “We were delighted to host our cycleathon at the Royal Welsh Show and raise money for such an important charity. The DPJ Foundation does fantastic work supporting people within the agricultural community, and its message about the importance of looking after our mental health is one that really resonates with the farming community.
“A huge thank you to everyone who got involved with the cycleathon and helped us reach £1,000. We’re very proud to be able to support The DPJ Foundation and the valuable work it does across Wales.”
The DPJ Foundation was established in 2016 following the death of Daniel Picton-Jones and has since grown to provide support across Wales. Its Share the Load service provides confidential support and access to counselling specifically for people working in agriculture, while its awareness and training work helps communities recognise the signs of poor mental health and know how to offer support.
The DPJ Foundation said donations such as this help it continue delivering its services to the Welsh farming community.
