Container Case Study

Vehicles from their new range were to be accommodated within the containers, ready to be shown at exhibitions and showrooms around the country. They required the container sides to be lifted and lowered by way of hydraulic arms, which would reveal the vehicle inside.

Hydraulically actuated containers are a challenging build, however, we always love a challenge so we set about creating their vision using 2 x 20ft new (once shipped) containers. Our client required the container side panels to lift and lower, so we had to re-strengthen the panels in order to support a standard car weight. Hydraulic systems were then built and installed in order to lift and lower the container panels. Because the units were going to be located at exhibitions and showrooms, there needed to be some kind of shelter to protect the public from the elements, so that they could get a good look at the contents. Our solution was to install 2 x 6m half cassette electrical awnings on each container, these were supplied in charcoal grey and fixed above each of the 20ft opening sides.

In terms of electricity to power the hydraulic systems, we installed a distribution board with a single phase external commando socket. A 3 pin floor mounted socket was also fitted. The containers were painted both internally and externally with white (RAL9010) self-priming specialised container paint.
